A home in the 2500 block of Lasker Avenue in Waco sustained moderate damage on Monday afternoon following a house fire.
When firefighters arrived after 12:30 p.m., heavy smoke was coming out of the front door of the home, which was occupied by one person at the time.
According to the Waco Fire Department, the smoke was contained to the kitchen area.
The American Red Cross is assisting residents for them to stay elsewhere for the time being.
