Some residents in Copperas Cove took the time to vote on Wednesday.
It was the first day to vote early on a tax ratification proposed by Copperas Cove ISD. The voting center was located at 408 S. Main Street and 94 people voted.
If approved, the tax ratification could provide the district with over $4 million in additional funding.
Superintendent of Copperas Cove ISD Joseph Burns said the plan is to shift funding to the maintenance and operations departments from other areas of the budget and to do so without having to raise local taxes.
“They will see no change rate and no change in what they pay in taxes based on the tax rate,” Burns said. “The general public won’t see a great deal of other changes that take place in the district for kids and programming.”
The voting center will be open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
