It’s a celebration of all things geek at GeekFest. GeekFest, taking place at Central Texas College in Killeen, is in full swing and lasts all weekend.

With festivities kicking off, like the Harry Potter Yule ball, costume contests and much more, there is something for all ages to enjoy.

This is the ninth year that GeekFest has been at CTC. Event goers and volunteers say it’s great to have an event like this locally.

Vendor Liaison Jennifer Hetzel said, “I help out with GeekFest because I helped start it but also because I'm a big geek. I love sci-fi and fantasy and comic books and all that stuff and so for me, it was really just a way for me to bring all the things that I love to the area and give people that also love those things a place to celebrate them.”

There will be food, vendors and tons of fun demonstrations and activities happening all weekend and it’s not only central Texans enjoying all things geek.

Some people are coming from out of state to take part in GeekFest

“We were here two years ago in 2016 and had a blast. We have since moved to Georgia and missed the con last year and we’ve always had fun coming here. We decided to take a little vacation and enjoy the con at the same time," said Tyler White, an Atlanta, GA resident.

GeekFest will be at Central Texas College through Sunday.

Wristbands, which cost $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday, can be purchased at the door.
