Katerina Bruner, a two-time All-American at Texas A&M, returns to the women's golf program as an assistant coach, announced Aggie head coach Andrea Gaston. Bruner was the Aggies' career leader in stroke average (73.70) and par-or-better rounds (43) at the time of her graduation in 2014.
"I am extremely excited to have Katerina join our program as our new assistant coach," said Gaston. "She brings a depth of knowledge of the athletic and academic culture here at Texas A&M, where she is deeply rooted, where she had a successful career, and understands the demands of a collegiate athlete. I look forward to mentoring and developing Katerina as a coach, as we share the same values. Her professional, collegiate and international experience will have a tremendous influence on our program, as we build a strong foundation together so that she can be a part of the design and implementation of a powerhouse legacy."
Bruner, née Ruzickova, returns to the program after serving as a volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2017, helping the Aggies to a top 5 finish at the SEC Championship. She coached two All-SEC selections, Bianca Fabrizio and Maddie Szeryk, and helped Courtney Dow to the SEC All-Freshman team.
"I am beyond excited and honored to be part of the Aggie women's golf team," said Bruner. "Aggieland has become home for me, and I am very thankful to have the opportunity to give back to the program."
The Prague, Czech Republic native played for Texas A&M from 2010-14, and was a three-time all-conference selection. She won the 2012 NCAA East Regional, and helped the Aggies to three top 16 finishes nationally, including a seventh place finish in 2011.
Since graduating with a degree in psychology in 2014, Bruner has also served as an Assistant Golf Professional at both Traditions Club and The Campus Course at Texas A&M. She has played professionally on the Symetra Tour, where she averaged 75.63 strokes per round in 11 events.
A star in the classroom as well, Bruner was an Academic All-Big 12 selection in 2012, and was named to the SEC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
Bruner married her husband Charlie, in 2015.
