A man was arrested by Austin police after they say he tried to rob a Whataburger with a pair of tongs.

The Austin-American Statesman reported that David Garcia-Gonzalez, 44, was charged with a robbery after police said he threatened employees at an Austin Whataburger.

Police said it happened on July 26 at the restaurant located on Burleson Road and East Oltorf Street.

The Statesman said that Garcia-Gonzalez walked behind the counter and grabbed tongs before threatening an employee and demanding cash.

Staff members saw the "weapon" and intervened, causing Garcia-Gonzalez to flee the store, according to the Statesman.

Garcia-Gonzalez was found nearby and is currently being held at the Travis County Jail on a $13,000 bond.
