A hit-and-run led police to arrest a man for drugs on Monday.
Corsicana police said officers were following a fluid trail left by the vehicle of a suspect of a hit-and-run. The trail led officers to a damaged vehicle parked outside of a home known to police as a drug location.
Drugs were seen inside the home in plain view of the officers. Officers added they found the suspect sitting on a loaded pistol.
Police obtained a warrant to search the house, where officers found marijuana wax, packaging for large amounts of marijuana and a loaded pistol.
While speaking with the suspect, officers found a backpack in the backyard of a vacant apartment next to the suspect's home. The suspect said it was not his and he did not know who it belonged to.
Inside the backpack, officers found seven ounces of marijuana, a pill bottle containing nearly 100 grams of Xanax pills, ammunition and over $14,000 in cash.
Officers took the man, identified as 24-year-old Demetrius Gable Bowman, into custody. Bowman was charged with manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance. Police said additional charges of possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license with prior convictions and failure to stop and leave required information are expected to be filed soon.
Bowman remains in jail with his bond set at $352,000 bond.
