A man was arrested and charged on Wednesday after police say he dragged his roommate while he was trying to get out of the car on July 18.

According to Bellmead police, at approximately 7:41 p.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Boston Street to a victim who was injured during an assault.

The victim and his roommate, 61-year-old Michael Steverson, started a verbal altercation while shopping. The verbal altercation continued when they got in the car. The victim wanted to get out of the car, and he asked Steverson to pull over.

Before the victim could get out of the car, Steverson drove forward and dragged the victim as he hit the ground. It caused road abrasions to the victim and he was left there, according to Bellmead police.

The victim did receive medical assistance.

Lacy Lakeview police assisted in finding Steverson. They found him at his residence in Lacy Lakeview.

Steverson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the McLennan County Jail.
