Ten Waco ISD high school students have been working alongside four local artist mentors to create a mural on University Parks.

They designed and painted a piece of art that will be visible to those in the Waco community.

Thanks to Creative Waco, Prosper Waco and Waco ISD, students will receive a stipend at the end of the internship.

ArtPrenticeship Program Manager Stefanie Wheat-Johnson said she noticed the progress of the students throughout the program.

"It has really been cool how the apprentices have jelled and each found their flow within the space and how they gained confidence in their skills," Wheat-Johnson said.

The participants will be working until the end of July and the mural is expected to be completed on August 3.

The unveiling ceremony will take place in September.
