A Bellmead man has been indicted for bestiality in McLennan County after police say he sexually abused a neighbor's dog in July.
On July 7, Bellmead Police Department said they arrested 27-year-old Philip Mercon for the act. He has been charged with bestiality, criminal trespass and evading arrest.
Police said the incident happened on the 2000 block of Montrose Street. They said that a witness on scene said he saw Mercon, sexually abusing a dog.
Officers found Mercon with a dog in a fenced backyard of a neighbor. Mercon attempted to flee the scene, but officers were able to arrest him.
They notified the dog's owners, and they said there are no reports of injury to the dog.
