Thousands of people from across Central Texas and the country lined up in Downtown Belton to kick off the fourth of July festivities.

This year marked the 99th annual Belton fourth of July parade. People decked out in red, white and blue lined the streets to see over 300 floats pass by.

For some, this has been a lifelong tradition, even if it means traveling from Minneapolis to be here.

"I come every year for the fourth of July parade. I used to march in it with the Marching 100, and then I moved away, and I come back on the fourth because it's the best parade in the country," Brent Love said.

Schoepf's in Belton will host a free concert and have a firework show for the fourth of July. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 6 p.m.
