The Providence Healthcare Network's operating rooms are getting a major upgrade.

Operating rooms are now equipped with the Da Vinci XI Surgical Systems. The robotic surgical system gives surgeons greater precision and control.

Physicians said robotic-assisted surgeries offer patients potential benefits such as faster recovery times, less pain and minimal scarring.

Providence's robot surgery program is the only one of its kind in Waco.

"We're able to perform surgeries in tighter spaces. We have arms that reach further, the instruments can be placed closer together, and the camera can be moved from port to port which gives us a lot more versatility," said Providence Healthcare Physician  Dr. Todd Moffatt.
