Texas A&M women’s basketball is scheduled to play the first women’s basketball game in the University of Houston’s newly renovated arena, the Fertitta Center, taking on the Cougars in a non-conference game on December 5.
This is the 60th meeting between the two programs, who both participated in the Southwest Conference from 1982-1996. The Aggies have won three straight games against Houston, winning 83-65 last season in Reed Arena. The two programs have not met in Houston since 2013, when the Aggies defeated UH 63-51 at Hofheinz Pavilion, prior to its renovation.
The Cougars went 20-12 last season, advancing to the WNIT. The Aggies went 26-10, and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the seventh time in program history.
Additional non-conference games will be released as the details are finalized. During conference play, the Aggies host Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The SEC road schedule has the Aggies making trips to Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss Missouri and Vanderbilt.
