Two people have been indicted on kidnapping charges.
On May 30, police received a report from a woman and her son that her husband was kidnapped. According to the arrest affidavit, it was reported a man and a woman called the victim's wife and told her they would shoot her husband if she did not pay for his safe return.
The suspects originally asked for $60, but later changed to $100 and then $120.
The woman's son was told to bring the $120 to a gas station in Killeen. Officers went to the gas station, but no one was there.
The kidnapping victim then contacted the son and told him he was being held by two people at the Dollar General. When officers arrived, they saw two men standing outside an SUV along with the victim and two the suspects, Adrienne Latrice Barnes and Chanz Love Causey. Causey was holding the victim's cell phone, the affidavit said.
The victim fainted, prompting officers to call EMS for a medical evaluation. The man was incoherent, overly erratic and asking for his medication, the affidavit says.
When officers asked the victim who kidnapped him, the victim pointed to Causey.
The victim later reported that two men made he smoke what he believed was crack, the affidavit said. He said the suspects threatened him and made him give them money. He gave the suspects the $40 he had with him and later called his wife for more money.
Barnes and Causey were arrested on June 2 for kidnapping. Causey is being held on a $100,000 bond, while Barnes is being held on a $110,000 bond.
