Ten Waco high school students in the Leadership, Education and Development program (LEAD) will be awarded a total of $57,000 in scholarships May 23 at 6 p.m. at the Carleen Bright Arboretum.

This is one of the largest sums in the city, with $37,000 awarded between nine students and one student receiving the Bradley Ray Hulse Memorial Scholarship for $20,000.

Since 2010, scholarships totaling $216,000 have been awarded to students, and this is the first year that more than $55,000 will be awarded in one year.
