K-9 Odin has been credited for taking down Dabrett Black, the suspect accused of killing trooper Allen on Thanksgiving Day.
Black was captured by Odin after he lead authorities on a multi-county manhunt.
21 canines are competing to become the 2018 American Humane Hero Dog Awards.
The heroic hounds were chosen by the American public to advance to the semifinals from a total of 266 candidates.
The seven categories for 2018 are Law enforcement/arson dogs, military dogs, therapy dogs, service dogs, search and rescue dogs, and guide/hearing dogs.
People can vote between now and July 11 by visiting this website.
Also nominated is Skye a rescue dog who helped people during Hurricane Harvey.
K9s like Odin cost anywhere from $15,000-$20,000, others anywhere around $50,000 depending on their training.
