The man involved in a standoff with Grand Prairie police at an IKEA is dead.
Grand Prairie police tweeted that they were working the standoff near the IKEA located at 1000 Ikea Way. Police said it was at the intersection near IKEA and not at the store.
The Dallas Morning News reported that the man was killed during the standoff.
The Morning News reported that police came to the scene just before 1:30 p.m. after a bystander reported seeing a man slumped over in a car. The man inside the vehicle pulled out a rifle as officers approached the vehicle.
The man and officers exchanged gunfire. The man shot at officers several times and refused to engage in negotiations.
The Dallas Morning News said that it was unclear if the fatal shot was self-inflicted or from police.
No other details were released.
