Forty-five students at Ellison High School in Killeen participated in a walkout as part of national anti-gun violence rallies on Friday.
According to the Killeen ISD spokesperson, 45 of the 2,492 students walked-out at the flagpole for a moment of silence and then marched around the building.
The walkout began at 10 a.m. and ended when the bell rang at 10:35 a.m.
The school district spokesperson said the students organized the walkout on their own; it was not a school or district event.
