Five players will represent the Baylor women’s tennis program at the ITA Regional Championship Presented by Oracle on Oct. 13-17. The Texas regional is hosted by TCU at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas and begins with main draw doubles action at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on Friday.

Baylor sophomore Angelina Shakhraichuk and senior Theresa Van Zyl, who are 1-1 as a duo this fall, are slated to meet Rishona Lewis and Sofia Murcia of Texas State in the main draw doubles Round of 64 at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Also competing in the Round of 64 at 8:30 a.m. are sophomore Jessica Hinojosa and freshman Livia Kraus, who are slated to meet Alexandra Heczey and Haruka Sasaki of North Texas. The pair went 3-1 together last week, falling in a tightly contested match with the top-seeded duo, 8-7, at the H-E-B Invitational.

In the main draw singles bracket, Hinojosa was selected as the No. 15 seed and received a bye to the Round of 64. She awaits the winner of Laura Bernardos of Houston and Lucia Natal of UT-Arlington for her 1:30 p.m. match. After a withdrawal in the Round of 128, Kraus advances to the Round of 64 match at 1:30 p.m., where she will meet the No. 14 seed Bojana Markovic of Texas.

Following her morning doubles match, Van Zyl will challenge Tiffany Hollebeck of SMU in the Round of 128 at 10 a.m. With a win, she would advance to meet the No. 16 seed Sarah Dvorak of Texas Tech at 2 p.m. Van Zyl is currently riding a five-match win streak after claiming the H-E-B Invitational main draw singles title in Waco last weekend.

Shakhraichuk is slated to battle it out with SMU’s Anzhelika Shapovalova in the Round of 128 at 11 a.m., for a matchup in the Round of 64 at 2 p.m. Freshman Kris Sorokolet will face Marta Perez Mur of Texas at 11:30 a.m. in the Round of 128. The winner of the match will advance to meet No. 13 seed and No. 122 ranked Alexandra Zenovka of TCU in the Round of 62 at 2:30 p.m.
