The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s golf program matched its opening round score and settled for a fourth place finish at the UMHB Fall Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Killeen. The Cru’s second team posted a seventh place finish.
UMHB’s top team fired a 300 team total for the second straight day to finish at 300-300=600 and maintain its grip on fourth place. The Cru’s second team posted 305-312=617 to take seventh place. Trinity University won the team title by carding a 292-297=589. Texas Lutheran took second with a 290-308=598 and Hardin-Simmons finished third at 298-301=599. McMurry University claimed fifth place after recording a 300-307=607 and University of Dallas was sixth with a team total of 305-305=610. Howard Payne took eighth place with a 317-301=618, LeTourneau University finished ninth at 308-313=621 and Louisiana College rounded out the ten team field at 326-331=657.
Nathan Zahn was the low individual finisher for the UMHB men. Zahn posted a 75-74=149 to finish in a tie for ninth place. Cade Govender (74-77) and Bryce Parker (78-73) tied for 16th place with 151’s for the Cru. Cort Crawley (75-77) and Kyle Revis (76-76) both carded 152’s to tie for 18th place and Kade Bentley (73-80) and Zane Washburn (79-74) tied for 20th place with 153’s. Parker Love tied for 27th after firing a 75-79=154, Drake Cody posted 78-79=157 to tie for 34th and Alex Goebel shot 79-83=162 to tie for 46th place. Trinity’s Dawson Dally won individual medalist honors after posting 70-74=144. Dallas’ Jacob Wade carded a final round 69 for the low round of the tournament and won a scorecard playoff for second place individually.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 7,113-yard layout at Stone Tree Golf Club in Killeen. The UMHB men will return to action with the Golfweek Invitational on October 14-17. That tournament will be played at Raven Golf Course in Destin, Florida.
