Baylor women’s tennis freshman Kris Sorokolet qualified to compete in the singles main draw of the Stillwater Pro Tennis Classic with a quality victory in two sets on Tuesday at Greenwood Tennis Center.
Sorokolet moved to 3-0 in the professional tournament, besting Florida State graduate Kerrie Cartwright of the Bahamas, 6-1, 6-3. She will meet the No. 3-seeded player in the tournament in round one of the main draw bracket, Conny Perrin of Switzerland. Perrin is a 26-year-old professional, who is ranked No. 193 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
Sophomore Angelina Shakhraichuk fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, to No. 2-ranked Texas Tech senior Gabriela Talaba of Romania. She closes the tournament with a 2-1 mark.
