The family of a hit and run victim is asking for the public’s assistance to help solve her case.

According to Bellmead Police, 36-year-old Jana McElyea was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the corner of New Dallas Highway and Montrose Street Monday night.

"My reason to reach out is somebody saw something, may hear something to notify the Bellmead detective," McElyea's father James Green said.

Her sister Keri Green remembers has fond memories of McElyea.

"Her smile and her laugh, I always looked up to her," Keri said. "She was very strong-willed, beautiful and fun, and smart."

Keri said the last time she saw McElyea was when she turned 25 last Monday, which was the day before McElyea died.

"I loved her and she was beautiful and she was always the most beautiful person to me," Keri said.

McElyea was the mother of three children, including 21-year-old twins Jordan and Jayden Kutscherousky and 16-year-old girl Zaylee Webb.

If you have any information that could lead to the identification of the driver, contact Detective B. Seymore at 254-799-0251.

The visitation for McElyea has been set for Wednesday, July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aderhold Funeral Home located at 808 S. Reagan St. in West.

The memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 13 at 1 p.m. also at the Aderhold Funeral Home.

Her obituary is now available online.
