The No. 13/15 Baylor Lady Bears (35-7, 8-1 Big 12) treks to Norman, Okla., for the highly-anticipated and nationally-televised series with the defending national champion No. 8/8 Oklahoma Sooners (39-7, 9-0 Big 12) on April 21-23 at OU Softball Complex.

The full weekend series will be televised, with Friday’s game airing on FOX Sports Southwest at 6:30 p.m. Chad McKee and Tori Nirschl will provide the on-air talent. Saturday and Sunday’s games will be carried nationally on ESPN2, with Beth Mowins and Michele Smith on the call.

Baylor has won six-straight Big 12 series, with the last series loss in conference play dating back to last year’s series with Oklahoma in Waco, a three-game sweep by the Sooners.

Baylor’s doubleheader with Houston on Tuesday, April 18, was cancelled due to torrential rainfall. The Lady Bears and Cougars were locked in a scoreless tie in the middle of the fourth, with Kelsee Selman carrying a no-hit bid through four frames in the circle.

Baylor is 6-0 in 2017 after a loss, with the last time the Lady Bears dropped consecutive games dating back to 2016 when BU dropped the second game versus Houston (April 12) and the opening game of the series at Oklahoma State (April 15).

Baylor freshman Shelby “Goose” McGlaun was named a finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year, a week after senior Lindsey Cargill was named a finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

In Baylor’s last trip to Norman in 2015, the then-No. 17 Lady Bears stunned the No. 5 Sooners in game one, taking an 8-0 run-rule win in six innings behind a two-hit shutout by Heather Stearns. The Sooners took game two, 5-2, and game three, 11-3, to claim the series.

BU looks to secure its first series win over the Sooners since 2004 and the first-ever in Norman.
