Highlassies drop two games to Weatherford

The McLennan Highlassies dropped both games of today's doubleheader with the Weatherford Lady Coyotes on the road.

The Lady Coyotes took game one 8-0 with Lizzie Donaldson taking the loss in the circle.

Weatherford scored one run in the bottom of the second as Kristeny Magallenes singled, moved to second on a single by Maddison Hightower and scored on a single by Aspen Grimes.

The Lady Coyotes added four runs in the fourth. Morgan Rackel singled and Magallanes drew a walk, both scoring on Hightower's three-run homer. Mikala Douglas then singled, moved to second on the walk of Francine Garcia and scored on a single by Kalina Sato. 

Three Weatherford runs scored in the fifth to secure the win as Rackel and Magallanes both singled and scored on another Hightower home run.

Weatherford defeated McLennan 6-2 in the game two with Vannessa Castro getting the loss in the circle. 

The Lady Coyotes scored two in the first as Garcia was hit by the pitch and scored on Macie Perrin's home run.

Weatherford added a run in the second as Hightower singled, moved to third on singles by Grimes and Douglas, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Garcia.

McLennan got on the board with a run in the third as Victoria Gonzales doubled and scored on a single by Serena Saldivar.

The Lady Coyotes final three runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Hightower singled and Grimes walked. Brittany Caswell followed with a fielder's choice putting Hightower out a third. Douglas walked and Sato singled bringing Grimes in to scored. Perrin walked to score Caswell, and Douglas scored on the walk of Rackel.

The Highlassies rounded out the scoring with one run in the fifth. Theresa Gonzales singled, Saldivar was safe on an error and Zayra Olguin bunted to load the bases. Elizabeth Svienty followed with a sacrifice fly to score Theresa Gonzales.

McLennan will host Grayson for a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
