Two McLennan golfers and a baseball player were named North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Players of the Week for March 5-11.
Sophomore Ryan Brown of Dunfermline, Scotland, received the men's golf award. Brown began the week shooting two rounds of 73 to tie for second place individually and lead the Highlanders to a first-place finish at the Tyler Junior College Invitational. Later in the week, he shot rounds of 78 and 72 to lead the team to a third-place finish at the Sonny Wiginton Intercollegiate in Roswell, New Mexico.
Tyler Morrison, a freshman from Copperas Cove, received the women's golf honor. Morrison's three-round total of 243 led to a tie for 38th place at the UT-Rio Grande Valley Invitational in McAllen and led the Highlassies to a 10th-place team finish. McLennan was the only two-year school in the field of 13 teams.
Right-hander Jase Embry was named the baseball Pitcher of the Week. The freshman from Axtell and graduate of Riesel shut out Grayson in an 11-0 run-rule victory Saturday. He allowed just three hits and recorded four strikeouts without issuing a walk.
