Baylor baseball debuted in the top 25 in five different polls last week, and moved up the rankings Monday. The Bears (14-2) are ranked No. 10 by Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA, No. 14 by USA TODAY/Coaches, No. 16 by Baseball America and No. 20 by D1Baseball.
The Bears are ranked in the top 16 by Baseball America for the first time since 2012, when they were No. 8 or better from April 9-June 11. Baylor is also at its highest ranking since 2012 in the rest of the polls during the same time frame, except D1Baseball, which is in its third season with a poll.
With BU’s win Sunday vs. No. 23 Houston in the first game of a doubleheader, it gave the program its best ever start at 14-1, and its 14-2 start through 16 games is tied for its best start (1990). The Bears are 3-1 as a ranked team this season and 4-2 against ranked teams.
