Three people are safe after escaping their burning home in Harker Heights early Thursday morning.

Firefighters rushed to a home on Alberta Circle and Verna Lee Boulevard just after 5:30 a.m. after a neighbor reported a house on fire.

The homeowner told News Channel 25 he woke up to flames in the house. He and two other people ran outside.

A neighbor, who called 911, said the heat was so intense that it melted the vinyl siding on his home and cracked two windows.

"I woke up at about 5:30 this morning. I looked at my blinds and noticed it was very red, which is very abnormal. I looked, I took a peek, and I saw that the whole side was on fire, the whole side," Randy Humphrey said.

Firefighters at the scene said no one was hurt. The fire was under control just after 6:30 a.m.

The Killeen Fire Department helped the Harker Heights Fire Department battle the fire.

The fire is under investigation.
