A man is in stable condition after being airlifted to Scott & White following an accident in Golinda on FM 2839 two miles east of Highway 77 Friday.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Martinez said the accident happened just after 5 p.m. Troopers said the 18 year old driver was speeding when he had a blowout, and lost control. The car skidded off the road and into a culvert, causing it to go airborne before and slam into a tree.
Investigators said they had to close Highway 77 in both directions to investigate the crash. That caused a traffic back up for a few hours until they reopened the road.
