The McLennan Community College men’s basketball team is ranked 13th in the first NJCAA Division I Poll of the regular season released today. The Highlanders were ranked 24th in the preseason poll.
South Plains (Texas), a Region V opponent for McLennan, is ranked first, followed by Hutchinson (Kansas) in second and Georgia Highlands in third. Northwest Florida State and Salt Lake (Utah) round out the top five. Odessa (16th) is the only other Region V school ranked. San Jacinto (ninth) is the only ranked team from Region XIV.
The Highlanders are 13-0 on the season and travel to Mesquite Wednesday to face Eastfield at 6 p.m. Eastfield is the top-rated NJCAA Division III team in the nation.
