UMHB men's soccer shuts out ETBU 3-0

men’s soccer grabbed an early lead and then cruised through the second half on the way to a 3-0 victory over East Texas Baptist Saturday in Belton. The Cru improves to 10-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Tigers to 8-8 overall and 3-5 in the ASC.

UMHB put up three first half goals. Jason Goodin opened the scoring off an assist from Sean Diamond in the 14th minute. Oliver Ortiz added a score with assists from McKenna Cook and Jordan Freeman in the 33rd minute and Diamond added some insurance with an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute. The Cru settled back into a defensive posture in the second half to keep the Tigers at bay.

Javier Zaragoza posted one save to earn the shutout in goal for the Cru. Bryant Botello had 13 saves for ETBU. The Cru outshot ETBU 22-5 and held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

UMHB returns to action Thursday, October 27th in a 3:30 p.m. game at University of the Ozarks in Clarksville.
