University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football player Haston Adams has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week this week. Adams was honored for his performance in the Cru’s 59-22 victory over East Texas Baptist University last Saturday.
Adams, a junior defensive tackle from Beckville High School, posted five tackles, recorded 1.5 sacks, broke up a pass and added a quarterback hurry in the game. But his biggest highlight came when he scooped up an ETBU fumble and rumbled 50 yards for a touchdown to give the Cru a 52-14 lead in the fourth quarter. It was Adams’ second fumble return for a touchdown this season with both of them coming against nationally-ranked opponents (Linfield, ETBU). Adams helped lead a UMHB defense that held the Tigers more than 30 points and nearly 270 yards of total offense under their season averages.
The Cru is 6-0 overall and is 3-0 in American Southwest Conference play following the win over the Tigers last weekend. UMHB will now return home to host Hardin-Simmons University (6-0, 3-0 ASC) in a battle of nationally-ranked teams this Saturday at 1:00 PM at Crusader Stadium.
