Baylor men's tennis senior Max Tchoutakian dropped his first match at the Oracle/ITA Masters Thursday at Pepperdine’s Ralphs-Strauss Tennis Center.
The Aix en Provence, France, product fell 6-4, 6-4 to Old Dominion’s 110th-ranked Adam Moundir.
Tchoutakian, ranked No. 54, is now 4-4 on the season and 3-2 against ranked foes.
Meanwhile in mixed doubles, Tchoutakian partnered with Baylor women’s tennis senior Blair Shankle to go 2-0 on the opening day.
First, the BU pair shutout Lidia Yanes Garcia and Andrew Watson of Austin Peay and Memphis, respectively, 6-0. Next in the round of 16, Tchoutakian and Shankle polished off Lucile Pothier (Abilene Christian)/Michael Feucht (Lamar), 6-4.

On Friday, Tchoutakian will play in the singles consolation draw against Alex Chepik of Bethune-Cookman at 6 p.m. CT.
Tchoutakian and Shankle will face UCLA’s Martin Redlicki and Ena Shibahara in the mixed doubles quarterfinals on Friday.
