Baylor Men’s Golf Tied for Lead at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

Baylor men’s golf is tied for the tournament lead after shooting 6-under-par 274 and 4-over-par 284 in Monday’s rounds at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. The Bears are at 2-under 558, tied with Auburn and six strokes ahead of third-place UAB (+4), heading to the final round at Old Overton Country Club.

Junior Matthew Perrine leads the 60-player individual field at 5-under-par 135, carding a first-round score of 2-under 68 and a second-round score of 3-under 67. Auburn’s Jovan Rebula (-4, 136) and Charlotte’s Conor Purcell (-4, 136) trail by one stroke, tied for second place.

Sophomore Braden Bailey (67, 74) and freshman Cooper Dossey (70, 71) are tied for 14th place at 1-over 141. Senior Hunter Shattuck shot scores of 2-under 68 and 5-over 75 to tie for 22nd place at 3-over 143, and sophomore Garrett May is tied for 25th place at 4-over 144 after carding scores of 1-over 71 and 3-over 73, respectively. 

Baylor (-2) and Auburn (-2) are tied for first place, followed by UAB (+4), UNLV (+7), Arkansas (+10), Michigan (+12), Florida State (+13), Alabama (+14), South Alabama (+18), Charlotte (+18), Mississippi State (+19) and UTSA (+25).


Baylor leads the 12-team field in par-4 scoring at 6-under 3.95.

The Bears are tied for third in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.80.

BU leads the field in birdies with 41 through 36 holes of play.

Perrine is tied for second in par-4 scoring at 6-under 3.75.

Dossey is tied for second in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.50.

May, Bailey and Dossey have carded nine birdies each to tie for the tournament lead.

Perrine is tied for sixth in pars-recorded with 24 through 36 holes.

Perrine was one of nine players to make an eagle on Monday.

Baylor players will begin Tuesday’s final round from the first tee, paired with golfers from Auburn and UAB. May is up first at 8:50 a.m. CT, and he’ll be followed in 10-minute intervals by Shattuck, Dossey, Bailey and Perrine, respectively.
