Baylor men’s tennis sophomore Jimmy Bendeck won his first match in the qualifying singles draw at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Monday.

Bendeck blew past Princeton’s Diego Vives, 6-2, 6-0, in the opening round of the 128-man qualifying singles draw for his fifth win in three days.

The sophomore is now 7-0 on the year and has won five matches at the ITA event.

In his first match in Tulsa, freshman Constantin Frantzen fell to South Florida’s Alberto Barroso-Campos, 6-4, 7-5, in the opening round of the qualifying singles draw.

Meanwhile in doubles action, Frantzen teamed Max Tchoutakian to win their first qualifying doubles match against Oklahoma State’s Lukas Finzelberg and Mathieu Scaglia, 7-6(2), 6-2. However, the BU doubles duo lost a 6-4, 7-6(4) decision to Mississippi State’s Strahinja Rakic and Nuno Borges in the round of 32.

On Tuesday, Bendeck will play Tennessee’s Tim Stodder, ranked No. 89, at 11:30 a.m. in the second round of qualifying singles action.

Frantzen will take part in the qualifying consolation draw, playing Florida’s 76th-ranked Chase Perez-Blanco at 8 a.m.
