Baylor volleyball (12-4) held off a strong pushback from the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks (8-6), 25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, increasing its win streak to eight on Wednesday night at Shelton Gym.
After taking two quick set wins to take a 2-0 match lead, the Bears were knocked back in the third, the lone set where the Bears were held under .200 attacking.
In the fourth, the Bears trailed by five as late as 15-10. BU used a 6-0 run to regain the lead, trading points with the Lady Jacks into the back half of the set. Trailing 19-18, BU closed out the set and match on a 7-1 run to take the fourth set, 25-20.
HIGHLIGHTS
Morgan Reed (48 assists, 11 digs) and Aniah Philo (13 kills, 17 digs) both posted double-doubles for the second straight game.
The Bears outblocked SFA, 11.0-7.0.
Alex Banister doubled her previous career-high dig mark, picking up 20 digs.
Baylor’s current eight-match winning streak dates back to Sept. 9 where BU swept Little Rock and Florida A&M on the road.
