Baylor men’s golf is tied for 11th place after shooting 16-over-par 296 in Saturday’s second round at the Fighting Illini Invitational. The Bears have a 36-hole score of 29-over-par 589 and are within five strokes of the top six heading to Sunday’s final round at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Freshman Cooper Dossey is tied for 18th place individually at 4-over-par 144, after shooting 3-over 73 on the day. Senior Hunter Shattuck is tied for 24th place at 6-over 146 following his second consecutive round of 3-over 73.
Sophomore Braden Bailey carded another 4-over 74 score, placing him in a tie for 36th at 8-over 148. Sophomore Garrett May is tied for 51st place with a two-round score of 11-over 151 following Saturday’s 6-over 76. Matthew Perrine (+21, 161) is in 77th place after shooting 12-over 82 in his second round.
Illinois (-6) leads the field, followed by Texas A&M (+15), Oklahoma State (+17), North Carolina (+19), Florida State (+20), Southern California (+24), UNLV (+25), Alabama (+25), Texas (+26) and Indiana (+28) rounding out the top 10. Baylor (+29) and Purdue (+29) are tied for 11th place, ahead of Arizona State (+31), Northwestern (+31) and Army (+52).
HIGHLIGHTS
