Brazos County warns citizens about burglars

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office has seen an increase in area burglaries recently.

In a press release sent out Monday, officials said that type of crime is normal this time of year because most homes are unoccupied during the day.

They warn thieves will knock on doors to see if anyone is home. If someone answers, they will typically ask for directions or say they are looking for someone.

Sheriff's deputies said to lock your door, get as much information about the person and to call police.

The county has also seen a rise in burglaries of unlocked cars. They recommend taking all valuables out of your vehicle, keep it locked, and park in well lit areas.

If anyone sees any suspicious activity, they are asked to call 9-1-1.
