A Waco church reached celebrated a milestone this weekend with their 101st Homecoming celebration and service.
Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church of Waco was founded on Oak St. in East Waco. The church moved to their home on Dutton avenue over ninety years ago. Pastor Dr. Kerry Burkley, said despite the change the congregation remains committed to the community.
"It was through the blood, sweat and tears of members who didn't have much but saved and gave all they had. In the midst of this, transforming community all around us. In the midst of things getting torn down and built up we are still here," Burkley said.
Pastor Kerry says that several members of the congregation have been with the church for years. One member who is now 100 years old saw the church built when she was seven years old
