The City of Killeen partnered with Chik-fil-A and other sponsors to host a launch party Friday for their upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness 5K.

The event was from 3-7 p.m. at the restaurant's location on Central Texas Expressway near W.S. Young.

Organizer Taneika Moultrie said she went to her supervisor with the idea after she had her own Breast cancer scare. She said it was important for her to give back and create a support system for those battling or have battled the disease.

"This walk helps bring together survivors and supporters as well as friends and family," Moultrie said. "I think we all walk away with that much sense of hope that we can together find a cure for that disease."

Refreshments and goodies were passed out along with educational information on women's health.

The 3rd annual walk is October 15 at Lion's Park.

You can register on here. Tickets are between $20 and $25.

Proceeds benefit women in the Killeen area who cant afford mammograms or other exams.
