WACO, Texas - Baylor cross country head coach Todd Harbour announced the release of his team's 2016 schedule Wednesday.
"We have a great schedule this year starting with our annual Bear Twilight Invitational," Harbour said. "With all of these meets for both our men and women, we are looking to peak heading into conference and postseason action."
For the 14th-straight year, the Bears will open the season at home with the Bear Twilight Invitational on Sept. 1 at the HOT Soccer Complex. After a weekend off, Baylor will head to the Ken Garland Invitational on Sept. 17, in Denton, Texas, hosted by North Texas.
Next, the women’s squad will get in more action by running at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 24 in College Station, Texas.
Both teams will compete at the Norte Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Sept. 30, before taking another weekend off from competition.
The men and women will run in different locations on the same weekend for the only time in 2016 on Oct. 14 and 15 with the Lady Bears at the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., on that Friday and the Bears at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., the following day.
BU will have another open weekend, before traveling west to take on the rest of the league for the Big 12 Conference Championship Oct.29 in Lubbock, Texas.
In postseason action, Baylor will then head north to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA South Central Region Championships on Nov. 11. It will be only the fourth time in the last nine years and the fifth time in the last 14 seasons that the Bears will not host the event.
The NCAA Championships take place eight days later on Nov.19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
