BYDGOSZCZ, Poland - Baylor track and field’s Wil London won the 400-meter silver medal at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Zawisza Stadium Friday.
Over the last 100 meters of the race, the Waco, Texas, product moved from fourth to second with a superior close. London finished .18 seconds ahead of third place and .46 behind the gold medal winner.
Running in the 200 meters, Taylor Bennett opened Friday by recording the 12th-fastest time overall in the first round at 23.82. That mark was third-best in her heat, which auto-qualified her for the semifinals. In the semifinals, Bennett again finished third in her heat and was the first of two athletes to qualify on time for the final with a mark of 23.49.
WHAT’S NEXT
On Saturday at the meet, Bennett will run in the finals of the 200 meters at 6:20 p.m. (11:20 a.m. CT). She is also scheduled to run on Team USA’s 4x100-meter relay at 7:50 p.m. (12:50 p.m. CT).
Meanwhile, London is slated to be on the 4x400-meter relay for Team USA in the first round at 11:45 a.m. (4:45 a.m. CT).
