The 18th Annual Starburst Junior Golf Classic, one of the largest junior golf tournaments in the world, continues through June 15, 2016. Managed by the Greater Waco Chamber, the Starburst Junior Golf Classic will host up to 700 players from ages of 7 to 18, across eight area courses.
Over the span of three days, girls ages 7-10 and boys ages 7-9 will play nine holes and girls 11-Championship and boys 10-Championship will play 18 holes.
“The Starburst Junior Golf Classic is a premier junior golf tournament. We are proud to host participants from throughout the U.S. in the tournament each year,” said Douglas Galler, director of sports and special events for the Greater Waco Chamber. “We are constantly looking to improve our professional standards even further and offer junior players an opportunity that will challenge and build their golf tournament experiences.”
Each day of the Starburst Junior Golf Classic will include activities and vendors at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Classic. Registration begins June 12, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. As players pick up their player swag bag, program, tournament pairings and all caddie apparel, there will be hot dogs from Fuddruckers and product tents for Adidas, Oakley and Puma with special tournament pricing.
On June 14, a complimentary dinner will be provided by Fuddruckers for all players, family members and caddies at 5:30 p.m., before the anticipated Helicopter Golf Ball Drop of $1,000 at 8 p.m. The tournament will also host its first College Coach Q&A session with the junior golfers, which will feature three-time national champion coach Mike McGraw, the Texas Junior Golf Tour Director of Operations Ty Spinella and the National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame Coach Vince Clark.
