Two McLennan Community College baseball players were selected on the final day of the 2016 MLB Draft.
Left fielder Dimas Ojeda was drafted in the 17th round by the Seattle Mariners. Ojeda of Haltom, Texas, led the Highlanders with a .396 batting average this season. He recorded 80 hits with 20 doubles and 40 RBIs while appearing in 54 games to earn first-team all-conference honors. Ojeda signed a Letter of Intent with Florida Gulf Coast during the fall signing period.
Catcher Cory Voss was drafted in the 37th round by the Washington Nationals. Voss, a Pueblo, Colorado native, recorded a .396 average with 19 doubles, 11 home runs and 53 RBIs in 55 games this season to earn second-team all-conference honors. Voss signed a Letter of Intent with the University of Arizona during the fall signing period.
