Fort Hood soldier dies from gunshot wound

Fort Hood released the name of a soldier who died of a gunshot wound on June 6 on post.

He was identified as 21-year-old Spc. Bernardino Guevara Jr. of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

Guevara joined the U.S. Army in Sept. 24 as Patriot Launching Station Enhanced Operator.

In March 2016, he was assigned to Fort Hood's 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

Guevara’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

No further details were released, and the incident is under investigation.
