The Chalk Bluff Fire Department helped a woman in her 40s get to safety after she tried driving through a flooded road on Wednesday night.

Chalk Bluff firefighter Steven Daniel said the driver's car stalled after she drove on Idlewood Drive near Gholson road after 9 p.m.

The water, which was four feet deep at the car, almost reached the driver side window.

Firefighters helped the woman get out of the car and to the other side of the road. Her family helped her get the car out of the flooded road.

The road is now closed to thru traffic to prevent other drivers from attempting to cross it.

Daniel recommends drivers to be careful in low-water crossings.

"Watch these high water areas. You don't realize how much water is there until you get into it and sometimes like this lady found out, it's too late,"Daniel said.
