Baylor Women’s Tennis Places Two In Final ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. - Baylor women's tennis placed one singles player and one doubles tandem in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings for the 2015-16 season, the ITA announced on Wednesday.

As a team, the Bears ended the season at No. 32, which was up from the previous ranking of No. 40, after going 18-15 and reaching the second round of the NCAA Championships.

Junior Blair Shankle was BU’s lone representative in singles, ranking at No. 75. Meanwhile in doubles, Shankle partnered with senior Kiah Generette to be No. 22 in the end-of-year listings.

Shankle produced a 16-6 record overall and 14-4 mark in dual-match singles play. She led the team in dual-match singles wins, including a 5-5 mark against ranked foes.

In doubles, Generette and Shankle teamed up to post a 17-8 record and a 7-6 mark against ranked opponents. The duo advanced to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
