TULSA, Okla. - The Baylor women's tennis duo of Kiah Generette and Blair Shankle captured a straight-set victory in the opening round of the NCAA Doubles Championship against Georgia’s Mariana Gould and Ellen Perez Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The 20th-ranked BU tandem upset the No. 10 UGA paring, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to Friday’s second round.
After trailing in the first set 4-1, Generette and Shankle won the next five games to take the opening set, 6-4. With the second set tied 3-3, the BU pairing broke and then held on their next two service games to claim the match, 6-4, 6-4.

- The BU duo is now 17-7 overall on the season and 7-5 against ranked foes.
- This is the third straight season in which a BU duo has advanced past the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championship.
