Baylor Men’s Golf Heads to Big 12 Championship

WACO, Texas – The Baylor men's golf team is headed to Trinity, Texas, to compete in the 2016 Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.

The three-day, 72-hole event will be played on the par-72, 7,473-yard tournament course. There will be two rounds of play Friday, a third round Saturday and the final round Sunday.

The Bears enter the tournament ranked No. 28 nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings and are the tournament’s No. 4 seed. BU last competed at the Maxwell Intercollegiate, placing second with a final score of 8-under-par 552.

The 10-team field includes No. 1 seed Texas, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Baylor, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 6 Kansas, No. 7 TCU, No. 8 Kansas State, No. 9 Iowa State and No. 10 West Virginia. Six Big 12 teams are ranked among the nation’s top 50 teams – No. 1 Texas, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Oklahoma, No. 28 Baylor, No. 41 Kansas and No. 45 Texas  Tech.

Baylor’s lineup features Andreas Gjesteby, Frederik Andersen, Braden Bailey, Matthew Perrine and Hunter Shattuck.

Tee times for Friday’s first round begin at 8 a.m. CT. Baylor is paired with Oklahoma and will tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. Shattuck is first on the course for the Bears, and he’ll be followed in nine-minute intervals by Perrine, Bailey, Andersen and Gjesteby, respectively.
