WACO, Texas – All three members of the 2016 Baylor men’s golf signing class excelled at the 2016 UIL State Championships, with two winning individual titles and one finishing as runner-up. All three signees have now won individual state championships within the last two seasons.

Cooper Dossey (Austin, Texas) claimed the Class 5A individual state title and led his Vandergrift High School team to a 47-stroke win at the state championship at Wolfdancer Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Dossey shot 66-69 to win medalist honors by eight strokes. Dossey’s Vandergrift team won its third consecutive state title, and he recorded his third straight top-three finish after placing third as a sophomore in 2014 and second as a junior last season.
Dossey also led Vandergrift to the Class 5A Region IV championship by shooting 66-68 at Golf Club of Texas, and he guided the team to the District 25-5A title by shooting 68-69 at Delaware Springs Golf Course. Dossey won individual titles at the District, Regional and State Championships.

Travis McInroe (Plano, Texas) led his Plano West High School team to the Class 6A state title at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown, Texas. McInroe shot 71-70 to claim the individual title by two strokes over fellow 2016 Baylor signee Colin Kober (Southlake, Texas). Kober shot 71-72 to finish in second place, one year after winning the individual title as a junior in 2015, and his Southlake Carroll team finished in fourth place.

McInroe shot 70-71 to finish in third place individually and lead Plano West to the District 6-6A title. He followed that up by shooting 73-72 to finish in 10th place at the Class 6A Region I Championships, helping Plano West qualify for the state tournament with a second-place finish.

Kober helped his Southlake Carroll team to the Class 6A Region I title with a seven-stroke victory over McInroe’s Plano West team. Kober claimed the Region I individual championship by shooting 68-69 at Waterchase Golf Course. He also led Southlake Carroll to the District 7-6A title.

All three players will join the Baylor program in August to play for head coach Mike McGraw, who will be entering his third season with the Bears. This year’s Baylor squad heads to the 2016 Big 12 Championship this weekend, and the Bears are expected to earn their 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance when the field is announced on Monday.
