One person was injured after a Monday shooting just after 10 p.m. at Waymon Manor Apartments in Temple.
While a 911 caller was on the phone with dispatch reporting the shooting, gunshots could be heard in the background.
All available units were called to respond.
Two police units arrived on scene and identified 28-year-old Freddy Uceta as a potential suspect.
Uceta was in a field north of the complex. Officials say he ran into an abandoned building within the Waymon Manor complex with an officer pursuing.
Officers then surrounded the building to contain Uceta. He eventually surrendered to officers and came out.
One victim was taking to Baylor Scott & White Hospital with a single gunshot wound to a leg. His injuries are not life threatening.
No charges against Uceta have been listed on the jail roster as of Tuesday morning.
The shooting comes a day after a front page Temple Daily Telegram story on the success of a church outreach program in the neighborhood.
