Two men in Leon County led officials on a police chase Tuesday.

The Leon County Sheriff’s office responded to a reported burglary north of Smith’s Crossing. Upon arrival, deputies noticed a suspicious vehicle and alerted dispatch to pull it over.

The vehicle wrecked out on a median in Madison County, and the driver was taken into the trooper’s custody.

Investigators recovered several items from the vehicle, including firearms that were believed to be stolen.

19-year-old Mathew Burkett is being charged with burglary of a habitation and attempted capital murder and is being held on a $1.3 million bond.

45-year-old Harold Morrison is being charged with burglary of a habitation, evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle and attempted capital murder. He is being held on a $1.35 million bond.
